for school report (idc what the state flower is i need to know about the real culture!)

What are people really like in New york?
We like to hiss and fart uncontrollably at obvious tourists and foreigners.
Reply:we're the nicest rude bunch you will ever come into contact with!! ((seriously)) lol You should come visit!
Reply:They are people who happen to be New Yorkers %26lt;in the city%26gt;.

New York City is one of the most diverse cities in the world, why would you want to try to lump so much variety together? There is every type of person there, and then if you add the state as a whole, how can you call them other than New Yorkers?

Well, as the the second part, there is real culture there with museums, theaters, universities, every kind of cuisine, etc., and,

then again, there is also an absence of culture in some while they are oblivious to what is around them.

Reply:There are a variety of different people in NYC. I moved to NY a few months ago (I live on Long Island, but I've been to the city, of course). There are a few rude New Yorkers, but that's probably only 15% of the people I've seen. Overall, I'd say that many New Yorkers have the following characteristics: competitive, cultured, educated, social.

Reply:I moved here a few months ago from the Midwest. You have to understand that most people you run into are from other places. It is a very diverse scene. If I was to generalize the only thing I could say with confidence is that you must be quick. In the Midwest people like to talk and hear about you-they always ask questions about you and such; but here, people don't want to hear that. Your interactions must be direct and brisk. They are still kind, but this kind of directness is sometimes perceived as rude to outsiders. To be honest I don't find it rude. It's actually being more considerate of ones time-which I like. It all depends on your socialization preference.

I feel the Great Melting Pot IS New York City, can you call anyone who lives in New York, a New Yorker? Well no, because people who live in new york comes from all around the world! But then again can you call anyone who lives in America an American? So i feel it depends on who you talk to, and how they feel they want to be represented: By nationality, culture, city, etc. But New Yorkers, are people who live in New York, Right? I think so.

I lived in New York City, all my life, I'm 20, and I love the city i live in. After 9\11, people started to care more about the people around them and their neighbors. It was beautiful, and warm, its a great city to live in, and a great city to visit!

New York City is wonderfully diverse and i feel quiet interesting city to live in. It depends on where you are located but if your walking anywhere populated with working men and women, any questions you have they will try to answer them as quickly as possible, or they might just walk around you (you have to understand people are busy): some say that new yorkers are rude, but its a generalization, its not true.

When i step onto the bus or train: I get a good morning and a smile: does that sound like a new yorker? To me it does, people are friendly, some arent, but you'll get that anywhere you go.

There are musems, parks, libraries, recreactions centers, like: skating rinks, bowling alleys, etc. Theres always something to do in the city of New York. Some are lucky enough to live only a block away (walking distance, not very far walk) from a library or a mall. And parks, are everywhere! It's really exicting, and fun living in new york.

In New York City, you'll encounter many different cultures, and nationality just by walking down times square in manhattan: Italian, Africans, African American, Puerto Ricans, Arabians, Indians, lol the list is endless and amazing.

A man did a documentary trying to find every nationality in the world, all in the city of New York. Isnt that amazing, that theres so many cultures and nationality in one city!

Also since there are so many cultures, nationalities, I've become more tolerant of others and im use to seeing many different faces, instead of just one or two types of nationalites. I have friends from so many different backgrounds, and its great that instead of just a few nationalites to pick to date: theres so many guys out in new york, different cultures and backgrounds! Cuties from every type of background: thats a PLUS!

I hope your book report comes out great! :)
