Why do Indian States do not have official state Flags?

for instance many other states or subdivision's in other countries have their own state flags, flower, animal etc. Why not for Indian States?

Why do Indian States do not have official state Flags?
Good Question..The Constitution of India defines India as a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic country. India has a federal form of government and a bicameral parliament operating under a Westminster-style parliamentary system, which means one nation, one system.

There are no state basis flags because the states of India are unified under one democratic central government of India. Unlike some other countries and USA where states have autonomy over national affairs and internal international policy making, it is not so in India, and thus one flag indicates the united nature of the union of India.
Reply:It was permissible before 15 Aug., 1947. Now 1 India, united India.
Reply:States in India are not independent entities. They come under the Republic of India.
Reply:well you must have heard many incidences like model wearing indian flag,or flag mounted in reverse direction etc etc.

so my dear friend when we cant understand the importance of out national flag, when we cant take care and give respect to our one and only national flag, then do u expect that we would care for state flags.

i think one is enough provided we give proper respect to it
Reply:it shows that INDIA is united
Reply:but we have different culture / language ...ect.. in each state...

this is unique abt us....... which country has this...
Reply:india is unnion of states.by this reason states havent official flags.
Reply:because ours is the only country having unity in diversity
Reply:hey chillax! India is a country . one country. to show our one-ness

I'think.we are not many states but one country. one body, one soul.
Reply:Our Constitution Makers in their wisdom have rightly decided not to prescribe that right to the States. All the other federal Constitutions have recognised it because the coming together of many States to form a federal government was voluntary, whereas the federal set up was not so. The fissiparous tendencies were still rampant that the Constitution makers were worried about the prospect of some States entertaining ambitions of seceding. Despite this, I have seen many States using their flags which they display at the time of celebrating their State functions. It is unconstitutional.
Reply:Though we have many States,we remain an unified nation with the Central govt having the federal powers while states have powers pertaining to their regions. If there were separate flags for the States, then their would be much disparity and confusion among the people. So it has been a wise move of our constitution makers to have only one flag to represent the Nation and not to encourage states to have one of their own.HAMESHA JHANDA OONCHA RAHE HAMARA(May our flag always fly high)!
