Why is it illegal to pick the state flower?
Because they are protected by state law.
If people could pick them at will, there would be a lot less around for others to enjoy.
Why is it illegal to pick the state flower?
Which state do you refer to? Years ago, I was in the Tyler Rose Garden and my boyfriend and I were walking in the yellow Texas Rose Section and my boyfriend picked me a yellow Texas Rose! As we were leaving, we saw this sign that said it was illegal to pick a rose! I was so horrified and so in love with my boyfriend so I hid the yellow rose inside my shirt! We joked about it for years! I think now upon reflection that if every person picks a rose in the Tyler Rose garden, the roses would all vanish! It is a law to protect certain gardens not all flowers!
Reply:In most states it is not. It might be illegal to collect ANY flowers in a state park or public garden and some states might have special protection for certain flowers but there is no nationwide law that prohibits picking state flowers.

Why was the Arizona Saguaro Cactus chosen as the state flower?
Because it is indigenous and beautiful....I cannot imagine any other reasons being needed
Why was the Arizona Saguaro Cactus chosen as the state flower?
Probably because Arizona is one of the the only states where the saguaro cactus grows naturally. The flower is very pretty and fragrant.
"Arizona’s state flower, the blossom of the saguaro cactus, was probably chosen because the saguaro cactus is so unique. The saguaro is the largest cactus in the world and the only place they 'naturally' grow is within 150 miles of Phoenix-Scottsdale, Arizona."
Reply:most flowers are chosen because they grow there or they are only grown there...the cactus is actually beautiful and a picture cannot do it justice...

What is the state flower of Colorado?
It is white and might look like a Lily.
What is the state flower of Colorado?
Colorado specifies the white and lavender Rocky Mt. Columbine which has blue-violet petals and spurs, a white cup and yellow center. Blue is a symbol of the sky, white represents snow, and yellow symbolizes Colorado's gold mining history. Here is a picture of what it looks like: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Colum...
The Rocky Mountain Columbine was designated the official state flower of Colorado in 1899 after winning the vote of Colorado's school children. Discovered in 1820 on Pike's Peak by mountain climber Edwin James, the Rocky Mountain columbine (Columbine Aquilegia caerulea) is a lovely flower with a rich aroma to attract bees, hummingbirds and butterflies to it's nectar. The Latin word aquila means "Eagle" and refers to the claw-like spurs at the base of the flower.
Columbines bloom in pastel shades of blue, violet, red, yellow and white. There are 70 species of columbines in the world and about 1/3 are native to North America.
A law was enacted in 1925 to protect this rare %26amp; delicate flower. The Colorado General Assembly wisely made it illegal to uproot the flower on public lands and the gathering of blossoms and buds is limited to 25 in one day. It may not be picked at all on private land without the consent of the landowner.
Another honor was bestowed on the Rocky Mountain columbine in 1915 when the song "Where The Columbines Grow" was adopted as the official Colorado state song.

Is it illegal to dig up/remove a state flower or tree in DELAWARE?
Cite your source, I need actual proof that it is indeed illegal for a senior prank. FIrst person with proof will get best answer!
Is it illegal to dig up/remove a state flower or tree in DELAWARE?
Digging up an American Holly (state tree) or peach blossom (state flower) is not illegal, so there is no law to cite to. However, if you do not own the tree/flower, there are other issues. Destruction of property? Theft? Trespass to land? Am I going to soon read about some dummies in the News Journal?

Why do they call the California state flower "Gloden Poppy"?
I just had to ask that question because i really want to kno the answer.
Why do they call the California state flower "Gloden Poppy"?
California Indians cherished the poppy as both a source of food and for oil extracted from the plant. Its botanical name, Eschsholtzia californica, was given by Adelbert Von Chamisso, a naturalist and member of the Prussian Academy of Sciences, who dropped anchor in San Francisco in 1816 in a bay surrounded by hills of the golden flowers. Also sometimes known as the flame flower, la amapola, and copa de oro (cup of gold), the poppy grows wild throughout California. It became the state flower in 1903. http://www.library.ca.gov/history/cahins...
Maybe there is a reason it grows wild in California; maybe it has not always grown wild there. I think it was planted there . .. .and native to possibly India, or it could have been the islands to the left of there where it originated. I could tell what I see as the mystery of the Golden Poppy; but it might differ from your own dreams or history. Because to know why it's the state flower, you might be interested in why it grows there also.
Personally I think it should be changed to something else.
Reply:its the GOLDEN poppy or california poppy.
Reply:because it's a poppy and it's a golden color.....
Reply:California is known as the golden state. History tells us that early americans travelled to the west particularly to California to look for gold. Becuase California is known as the "Golden State", the state flower which is the california poppy is then called "the Golden Poppy.

Does Baja California have a state flower,if it does then what is it?
Does baja california have it's on state flower or does it have the same as Mexico?
Does Baja California have a state flower,if it does then what is it?
http://www.bajacalifornia.gob.mx/english...
Official government site does not indicate if there is a state flower; however, it depicts the different vegetation present on the peninsula (very different than elsewhere in Mexico).
If there is one, it would be the Boojum tree because it’s the only place you’ll it (known here as “Cirios Pascuales” because of their candle-light appearance)

Reply:Can't remember if it's marijuana or poppy

Is there a Kentucky law against digging up or destroying the Goldenrod plant since it is the State flower?
I am planning a senior prank. In some states it is illegal to dig up the state flower, so schools would be breaking the law by digging up flowers used as pranks at schools. You get the idea. Im wondering if this law exists in Kentucky referring to the Goldenrod. If it does, I would like to see proof of the law. Thanks.
Is there a Kentucky law against digging up or destroying the Goldenrod plant since it is the State flower?
There are more than 100 species of goldenrod native to Kansas. Kansas Revised Statutes 2.090 makes "goldenrod' the state flower, but does not say which one.
Some are protected species by federal and state law. You could not legally plant these for your prank.
Others have no protection at all so the school could dig them up whereever they find them.
Generally, if the law prevents the school from digging them up, it prohibits you from planting them in the first place.
Reply:Yes, you could go to jail
