From ask.com:
"There is no national flower for Germany and no flower that is really representative for the whole country. There are a lot of tulips and roses, but those flowers are already the national flowers respectively representative of the Netherlands and England and they are not native to Germany.
Some cities and towns have flowers in their emblems or chose them because the flower is grown there, but even this is rare.
The national animal is the eagle (the golden eagle to be exact) and the stag, although the stag is not the official animal. But stags were shown so often in pictures during a certain period of German history that they are a sort of honorable national animal. "
Does Germany or Bavraia have an official state/national flower?
as far as i know there are no official "state" or national flowers... there are however certain flowers that are special to the inhabitants... i know that edelweiss is a flower with very strong meanings to those that wander the valleys and mountains of bavaria...

What is Florida's state flower?
Orange Blossom (Citrus sinensis)
Reply:None other than the Orange Blosson
Reply:Hi Jasmen,
The State Flower is :
Orange Blossom
The blossom of the orange tree (Citrus sinensis) is one of the most fragrant flowers in Florida. Millions of these white flowers perfume the atmosphere throughout central and south Florida during orange blossom time. The orange blossom was selected as the state flower by the 1909 legislature.
Adoption of the Florida State Flower
La Florida, Spanish for flowery, covered with flowers, or abounding in flowers, was named by Ponce de Leon in 1512. When it came to declaring an official state flower, the Land of Flowers had many, many choices. There was much support for the camellia and much support for the gardenia, but the native orange blossom's fragrance and widespread appeal won the honor. Today, it seems like this choice was simply meant to be.
The orange blossom (Citrus sinensis) was adopted by a Concurrent Resolution of the Florida state legislature on May 5, 1909. The resolution said, in part:
"Whereas, the State of Florida is universally known as the 'Land of Flowers'; therefore,
"Be it Resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate Concurring:
"That the Orange Blossom be, and the same is hereby chosen and designated as the State Flower in and for the State of Florida."
Leaf: The leaves are shiny and leathery, oblong to elliptic, up to 4" long, and have narrow wings on their petioles (leaf stems).
Flower: Orange blossoms are white, very fragrant, and arranged in clusters of 1-6. They bloom in spring and give rise to oranges the following autumn or winter. Last year's oranges often are still on the trees when the new flowers are blooming.
Fruit: A large, round multiple of drupes that is 4 to 5 inches in diameter. The fruit is roundish, golden-yellow or tawny, and several-celled, with a fleshy, juicy pulp; the seeds white and several. The cysts in the rind are convex (L.). The fruit has a very distinctive citrus smell.
Twig: The twigs on many orange cultivars are thorny.
Bark: Bark of a greenish-brown color, having axillary spines on the branches.
Form: The sweet orange is a compact evergreen tree 20-30' tall with a rounded, symmetrical crown spreading 15-20' or so.

Is it against a U.S. law to mow down state flowers with your lawnmower?
I been told a person can be fine for cutting or harning state flowers of your state.
Is it against a U.S. law to mow down state flowers with your lawnmower?
That is nonsense. Whether you can pick a state flower or not has nothing to do with its designation as a state flower.
If a plant is protected, or on someone else's lawn, you can't mow it down no matter what state listed it as their state flower.
A lot of state flowers are flowers that are on trees. And people chop down trees all the time. See:
http://www.usna.usda.gov/Gardens/collect...
The next time someone says there is a law, ask to see the law. With the internet available, that should not be a problem nowadays.
Reply:If their destruction is illegal, then yes.
Reply:That is true in some states - however you need to look at WHERE those flowers are planted. If they're in your own yard - you can pretty much do what you want. If they're on a public thoroughfare, then you may be out of luck.
Reply:It actually varies by state. Federal law only governs mowing down (or otherwise harming) plants if they're endangered or on federal land. Every state has different laws regarding their state flowers; in some places they are protected, in others the flower may be so common it has no special status except the symbolic honor.

The violet is the Illinois State Flower. It is certainly not an endangered species but it is illegal to pick any flower from a state park, conservation area, etec, etc. You can order violets from a wildflower catalog or you can contact the Illinois Department of Conservation on how to obtain violets.

Whats the State flower of Alaska?
Forget Me Not (Myosotis alpestris):
Alaska's state flower is the alpine forget-me-not. It was chosen in 1949. The alpine forget-me-not is a perennial that grows 5 to 12 inches high in alpine meadows. The flowers have five connected salviform petals, colored sky blue, that are a quarter to a third of an inch wide. They have a white inner ring and a yellow center. The best time to see the alpine forget-me-not is midsummer, from late June to late July. In addition to finding the Myosotis alpestris, botanists in Denali National Park might also come across the mountain forget-me-not (Eritrichium aretiodes) and the splendid forget-me-not (Eritrichium splendens).

Where can I find a picture from Kent state when the hippie girl placed a flower in the soldiers rifle?
I didn't find an image, but I found a quote that might help.
(She was one of the 4 killed there.)
The biggest thing in the life of Allison Krause of Pittsburgh apparently was her boyfriend, Barry Levine of Valley Stream L.I. He dropped to the ground when the guardsmen opened fire and was unhurt. Miss Krause whose friends said she was on her way to class, did not get down. She was killed.
“She had just stopped to look around and see what was happening, “ an acquaintance said.
The most most frequent adjective friends used in describing the 19 year old art history major was “beautiful.” She had Dark curly hair and her face was described by a student as “Indian-like so proud.”
A friend, Karen Zabrucky, said that mss Krause’s parents had wanted her to marry a Jewish boy. (Barry is Jewish). When it was suggested to Miss Krause that religion was not important, she replied that it was important to her parents.
By all accounts, Miss Krause had no overriding interest in politics or revolution. She frequently carried a pet kitten around the Kent State campus. And last Sunday she placed a flower in a guardsman’s rifle barrel and said, “Flowers are better than bullets.”

Why is the Camellia alabama state flower?
"A bill introduced in the 1927 legislature by Representative T. E. Martin, Montgomery County, making the goldenrod the state flower, became a law on September 6, 1927.
House Bill 24, approved August 26, 1959, amended Section 8, Title 55, of the Code of 1940, to read: "The camellia is hereby designated and named as the state flower of Alabama." (Acts 1959, No. 124.)
In June 1999, the Legislature designated that the camellia, Camellia japonica L., is the official state flower of Alabama."
http://www.archives.state.al.us/emblems/...
"On February 18, 1893, Alabama adopted the goldenrod as the official flower—of the United States! On September 6, 1927, it was adopted as Alabama's state flower. The yellowhammer was adopted as the state bird on the same day.
In 1927, the goldenrod was designated as state flower, but was replaced by the camellia, an exotic flower, possibly due to the erroneous idea that goldenrod pollen was annoying to those who are allergy-prone (actually, the goldenrod is falsely blamed for reactions caused by ragweed). Camellia colors include white, pink, red, and mixtures. Some have suggested that red and red-and-white camellias represent the state, matching the red and white of the Alabama flag.
Alabama's state flower is the only symbol not native to Alabama. It's from Asia. Camellias are named for G.J. Kamel, a Jesuit priest who traveled in Asia in the seventeenth century. The introduction of Camellia japonica L. in Italy is dated about 1760, but only during the XIXth century this species became popular. Many Italian nurserymen started growing Camellias at that time and soon this business became of remarkable importance. In two areas, the Lucchesia (Tuscany) and the lake Maggiore zone, camellia production was famous, due to the local nurserymen, breeders, and collectors. In these areas camellias "

I can't find the fruit, but you should give a local Mexican embassy a call and find out yourself:

Reply:Mexico's national bird depicted on their flag is either the crested caracara or the golden eagle. The golden eagle is claimed to be on their coat of arms on their flag but many sites say the national bird is the caracara or the Mexican eagle. There seems to be no government decree asserting the birds identity.

Do you guys know any good resources that I might find about how the hibiscus became the state flower of hawaii
I am doing a report on it..
Do you guys know any good resources that I might find about how the hibiscus became the state flower of hawaii
There's a bit of info in the links below :)
The first one states that a red hibiscus was the state flower from 1923 until 1988, when a yellow hibiscus was designated state flower instead. None of the other sites I looked at mention this fact - don't know if that's relevant.
The second link states that the hibiscus is a symbol of the islands' diversity. The third gives you a bit of info about the legislation etc that appointed a state flower, and the fourth is a wiki about Hawaiian hibisci (or hibiscuses... not sure which is correct!)

The three stars on the flag represent the three different land forms in Tennessee. Mountains in the east, highlands in the middle and lowlands in the west. On the flag these regions are bound together in an unbroken circle. The field is crimson with a blue background for the stars. The final blue strip relieves the sameness of the crimson field and prevents the flag from showing too much crimson when it is limp.

Is it Illegal to kill a Poppy Flower in California?
My friend had an idea for a senior prank, you plant all these poppies in the lawn spelling out 2008, and the school couldn't take them out because they are the state flower and it's illegal...
ey and don't b mean if this isn't illegal, they said it was....and gullible is in the dictionary!
Is it Illegal to kill a Poppy Flower in California?
Just because it is the state flower doesn't make it a protected flower. Protection only applies to endangered species. Your prank won't work.
California Condors are endangered. Can you spell out 2008 using California Condors?
Reply:Heroin comes from poppies. You can play a prank on them by harvesting the heroin and main-lining it. Then sue the school for a million dollars because they got you hooked on dope.
I hope i was helpful :)
Reply:Might be, but I don't know California law. Bluebonnets are the state flower for Texas, but if they're growing on my lawn, I can still mow my lawn, even if it takes out the bluebonnets.
Reply:It's only illegal to destroy wild poppys. If you plant them from seed you can do whatever you what. With all the houses in Calif, are there even any wild ones left????

Why is the "Sunflower" Kansas' state flower?
any other kansas state details will be helpful too.
Why is the "Sunflower" Kansas' state flower?
According to Kansas Statutes the reason is:
The following information is excerpted from the Kansas Statutes, Chapter 73, Article 18, Section 73-1801.
Chapter 73.--SOLDIERS, SAILORS AND PATRIOTIC EMBLEMS.
Article 18.--STATE FLOWER AND FLORAL EMBLEM.
SECTION 73-1801.
73-1801. State flower and floral emblem. WHEREAS, Kansas has a native wild flower common throughout her borders, hardy and conspicuous, of definite, unvarying and striking shape, easily sketched, moulded, and carved, having armorial capacities, ideally adapted for artistic reproduction, with its strong, distinct disk and its golden circle of clear glowing rays -- a flower that a child can draw on a slate, a woman can work in silk, or a man can carve on stone or fashion in clay; and
WHEREAS, This flower has to all Kansans a historic symbolism which speaks of frontier days, winding trails, pathless prairies, and is full of the life and glory of the past, the pride of the present, and richly emblematic of the majesty of a golden future, and is a flower which has given Kansas the world-wide name, "the sunflower state": therefore,
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas: That the helianthus or wild native sunflower is hereby made, designated and declared to be the state flower and floral emblem of the state of Kansas.
For more info on Kansas, go to: http://www.netstate.com/states/intro/ks_...
Reply:msg, have you ever been to kansas? obviously you haven't, and thanks for your ignorant comment.
I live here (in kansas city). Just like any state, the govt got together and agreed on a state flower. The sunflower grows wild here, and there are even huge sunflower fields that are used to harvest sunflower seeds.
The state bird is the Meadowlark.
Reply:Well, the legislature voted on it and the governor agreed... a long time ago...
Kansas is one of the most productive agricultural states, producing many crops, and leading the nation in wheat and sunflower production.
Reply:'cause there's nothing else there...
Reply:For the same reason that every other state has a state flower: voted on by the Kansas legislature.

What is a poem for the texas state flower the bluebonnet?
ur State flower's named for its hue
It's really a beautiful shade of blue
It's one of our favorites, we must admit
That's why in Texas we love the bluebonnet !
What is a poem for the texas state flower the bluebonnet?
The rain was softly falling~
The bluebonnets were in bloom...
And it was in the spring,
And you were coming home!
I was so happy~
Then I got the call...
And you weren't in love with me,
And you weren't coming home at all!
I cried in my sorrow~
I couldn't believe it was true...
For you were always the one for me,
And I loved you true!
Now you had other plans~
And I would be alone in my pain...
With no one to cheer me,
For I'd never see you again!
I will always remember~
I will never forget the pain...
And I will always remember,
Bluebonnets in the rain!

What is the national flower for Brazil... or if there is none, the state flower for Rio de Janeiro??
It's the flower of the tree called Ipê-amarelo (Tecoma chrysostricha). The word "amarelo" means yellow, because we have ipês also in purple and white. So is not just the "Ipê", it's the "yellow-ipê.
Amongst the great universe of native plants of the country, ipê always was considered the Brazilian national tree. On December, 7 of 1978, the law nº 6507 came to declare that Pau-Brasil (Caesalpinia echinata) would be national tree and the flower of Ipê tree, became the nacional flower. It also established, moreover, that day 3 of May would be, from there for ahead, the Pau-Brasil Day.

Reply:I know in the states We have a flower for each state and all, but as far as I know, there is not a Brazilian flower. What we do have is a Brazilian tree called PAU BRASIL, that has a red wood and its tipical from the country. Other than that, the closest thing we´d have to a flower would be a water lilly called "vitoria régia".
Does that help ? If not, let me know so I can make some more research on your behalf, ok. Good luck.
Reply:Found 4 sites that list the national flower of Brazil...one says the orchid, two say ipe-amarelo, and the other says tecoma alba.

The national bird of Mexico is the Golden Eagle. This powerful eagle is North America's largest bird of prey and the national bird of Mexico. These birds are dark brown, with lighter golden-brown plumage on their heads and necks.
Today, golden eagles are protected by law.

Reply:The Bluebonnet. Named for its color and, it is said, the resemblance of its petal to a woman's sunbonnet, the bluebonnet is the state flower of Texas. It blooms in the early spring and can be readily found in fields and along the roadsides throughout central and south Texas.
Scientifically named Lupinus texensis, the bluebonnet is also called buffalo clover, wolf flower, and (by the Mexicans) el conejo. It was adopted as the official state flower by the Texas Legislature in 1901.

What is Georgia's State Flower, Bird, Largest body of water and Main attraction?
Brown Thrasher,Cherokee Rose,Lake Sidney Lanier, Atlanta Aquarium
What is Georgia's State Flower, Bird, Largest body of water and Main attraction?
State flower: Cherokee Rose
State bird: Brown Thrasher
As far as the body of water goes I am not sure if Lake Lanier or Lake Hartwell is biggest.
The main attraction just depends on what you are looking for....they have Six Flags over Georgia, The World of Coca-Cola, Stone Mountain, and much, much more.....I didn't know what kind of attraction you wanted. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!
Reply:Ditto on Cherokee Rose and Brown Thrasher. Lake Hartwell has over 1,000 miles of shoreline, more than Lake Lanier. But Lake Lanier has much wider areas between the shorelines and is deeper than Hartwell. There are many attractions iall over the state Georgia. I would consider Stone Mountain as one of them, Calloway Gardens, Tallalulah Gorge, Okefenokee Swamp, Cloudland Canyon, etc.

Is it against the law to trim a dogwood tree in the state of Virginia? It is the state tree and flower.?
I have three beautiful dogwood trees that hangs over partway onto my neighbors property and she wants me to trim the tree back because she doesnt like the leaves to fall on her property. She has cut big limbs off one of my trees in the past which upset me greatly. It is a beautyful tree round and perfict until she cut it. She is one of those people that if it isnt hers, she doesnt like it.
Is it against the law to trim a dogwood tree in the state of Virginia? It is the state tree and flower.?
Dogwood is the state tree but it isn't the state endangered tree. There is no law against pruning it. Call a tree service and have it done right. Even if the trees are entirely on your property, though, leaves are still going to fall on your neighbor's side due to a scientific principle I like to call wind.
