Information on state report?

So my little sisters are doing a State report.

Obviously they can go on the internet and find all the information they need.

One problem.....everytime they need something they turn to the internet (They are only 11)

My mom was saying that when she was in school and they were given state reports to do, they would send something to the state and the state would send back all the info.

including: state flower, seal, tree, bird etc.

my mom wants them to work a little harder, instead of running to the internet.

does anyone know if states still do this and if so, how would you go about it?

Thank you so much in advance!

The mail can still be used./ Most states publish brochures to encourage tourism./ These brochures contain a lot of information.
Reply:i don't know about the states doing it but they have something besides internet access at the library---it's called books. lol. not being smart but i find myself using internet to find stuff when i have a book here with the info. interested to know outcome
