How can I have a romantic bedroom without being too girly?

I'd like to have a relaxing sort of semi-romantic atmosphere in my bedroom, but I don't want it to be to girly to the point where my fiance won't feel like it's his bedroom too.





What color(s) should I paint it? Do guys mind candles, flowers, or a canopy over the bed? If you're a guy, would you still feel comfortable? Do you even care?





He's moving here from another state, so everything feels strange for him, I don't want to alienate him in our own place (even though technically it's mine and I pay for everything until he finds a job here).

paint it a dusty tan, candles, a few flowers, and yes, a canopy, that is a great bed room, things have changed over the years, and we dont mind haveing sweet, nice things in the bed room, i like them, and i'm single now for 3 yrs, was married for 10,

Reply:Maybe your best plan would be to save it until he gets there and go shoping with him.





However, a word of advice is to have a plan of your own, too. What colors can you live with, what colors do you hate.


You can research room styles on HGTV.com and decide which styles you can live with and which you can't stand.


If you can steer your boyfriend to a compromise because you know your own mind, you will find a plan alot sooner. And remember to give yourself a break, a new living arrangement will a stressor for you too, especially as you both deal with the whole job hunting thing. Small changes might be best for awhile, certainly pamper yourself and him with flowers and candles but wait and discuss that canopy!

Reply:You are truly a concerned lady.I am a man and my ideal bedroom description will speak for itself. A fully carpeted bedroom with little clutter around the bed. Candle light,dimmer light,flowers and mirror in front of bed is poetic and sexy.Any light colour e.g.greenish,pink or metallic gold on the wall is my choice.A love seat in the bedroom is relaxing.Beautiful picture posters of nature or embracing man woman in each other arms planting light kisses.I am not too sure about canopy.
