We're moving from overseas back to the states soon and I have several terra cotta flower pots from the different countries we've lived in. I have to clean all the dirt residue off them before they can be packed.
Will soap soak in to the pot and come back out later and poison my plants? Is there something else I can clean them with that won't harm my plants later?
What can I clean Terra-cotta with besides soap?
I would just use a little scrubber brush and water. I don't know if soap would harm the plants you plan on putting in there or not, but I would have the same fear. Just scrub and water...see if that doesn't work for ya.
Reply:Hydrogen peroxide, bleach, muriatic acid, clr,,, though not in any combination.
Terra cotta is intentionally porous, but a thorough rinsing will get rid of any agents used in cleaning
