My husband and I are leaving for a week or so to visit our family and friends in another state. I was very excited this past week knowing we were going, but now I am finding that I am missing home already. I am going to miss seeing some of my flowers open up into their beatutiful splendor, I see things that should be put away or cleaned that I've neglected to do this month. Why is all this so important today now that we are ready to leave? LOL
So again, I ask, How do you feel when you are leaving home for some time? I'll award 10 point answers upon our return. Cya Later!
How do you feel when you are leaving home for some time?
Boy I can relate! I am a teacher and have chunks of time off so I have gotten used to being happy doing things at home. I just returned from a road trip to Vermont and I got very anxious the day before (sort of the way you described) and a little bit the first night. I was also visiting family and had to go (my baby sister is being re-deployed to Iraq next week :-( so it was bittersweet). I have cats as well and worried about them. But then the second day I felt more adjusted and had a great time. I think, to answer your question, a little part of us wants to find a reason we can't go, so we see the little things we don't mind letting go on a daily basis as we about to embark on a few days away. And, who wants to come home to clutter? I always clean the bathroom and prepare the bedroom so it is ready for "crashing" when I get back.
Anyway, have a safe and fun trip. You will settle in and enjoy your visit once you get there and the road trip itself can be fun, too! (mine was rainy but hopefully you will have excellent weather!)
Reply:I'm sure everyone feels that way when leaving home for a time, even if you don't think you will, you will. It's the feeling of being amongst things and people you know that makes you second guess leaving. But it gets better after you leave, so it's no problem.
Reply:hi ya. I know the feeling so well. i am leaving for a 15 day trip to europe in 2 days. About a week ago i was dreading the trip I didn't want to go and I wished i could call it all off. I think it is just nerves but don't worry, live in the moment!!!! I hope you do enjoy the trip though!

Reply:Excitement, exhilaration, anxiety - usually all at once!
Reply:I go through that all the time. I'm leaving tomorrow for a week and a half, and I see so much that needs to be done before I leave. Rather than focus on things at your home, think about how much fun you're going to have while away...and it's a break for you from housework. It's time for you to relax. Think about that every time you start thinking about home.
Reply:From experience, at first i was excited about going way, then i start to get sad that i am going to miss everything at home. But once I left i was all excited again and could'nt wait. Also a week before i had to come back home i was very emotional because i didnt want to go back home.
