A few people around my area "Iowa in United States" have been placing toilets in their front yard. Some grow flowers in them. This all started before 9/11. I have never really understood or heard the meaning of it.
What is the meaning of sticking a toilet in your front yard?
It doesn't mean anything. People have been using old toilets and sinks for garden planters for years.
I think its unsightly, but to each his own.
Reply:From what I understand there is no meaning. It's just a "redneck" thing. We get them here in Oregon too. My favorite was the person who had a bathtub, toilet, and sink in their yard growing flowers. It was lovely.
Reply:i was once read in a book that people did this during the 1950's to show that their city taxes were way too high. They wanted the government to know that the high taxes were making them poorer and poorer. To show their poverty, people put old furnitures and toilets and raggity clothing on their front lawn. They planted flowers in toilets to show that they could not afford real flower pots. It may be the same reason now.
Reply:An adult variation of the child who lifts a finger in the air with a large grin for all to see, and on its finger is the remains of a recent bodily function. Most adults have some remaining childhood attributes which are manifested from time to time.
Reply:Thats really something a hillbilly would do. They think its pertty.
Reply:HAHA that cracks me up.. I live in Hawaii andpeople do the most random things here as well. I think they just want really cool ways to show of the flowers in a crapper.
Reply:They think it is artistic but it is trashy and low class.
Reply:A politically incorrect statement being made by people who don't realize it.
Reply:I've seen the "toilet flower pots."
I don't get it, either.
Maybe if you started using a couple of them...
Reply:Tackiness, pure %26amp; simple.
Reply:I never heard of it around here. Maybe it is just a trend in your town.
Reply:It's redneck class!
Reply:thats some weird redneck ****
Reply:Iowa is a great place to be from. ;-) And, even better, it keeps all the folks who are there from being elsewhere. Maybe they don't know what the toilets are for???
Reply:ask Marcel Duchamp
Reply:Being that they are porcelain, they probally make excellent flower pots-deep enough for a good ammount of soil, wide enough for a good number of plants, and the back can be used to water the roots directly. Not only that, but I'm sure they are astetically comical, and even seen as innovative.
